Adios, Sayonara, Good-Bye, This is it...Well boys and girls, we all knew this day would come around sooner or later, and quite honestly, it's about 2 years overdue. Thanks to social media sites, Message Boards have become insignificant for the most part, and our lack of continued participation in the sport has rendered this particular board irrelevant. So, this is the official announcement of The End! Thanks to all involved, it's been one helluva 20 year ride! The P&R Photos Board will be disabled at the end of the month, April 30th. If anyone is interested in a website to host a message board, feel free to contact us.

Patriot Speedway / Pee Wee Class Complete Rules:
« on: February 07, 2017, 03:20:05 PM »
Introduction:

This class is designed for the beginner kart racer, ages 5-7 giving them the opportunity to learn driving and racing skills at an early age for a season or two before moving them up to the upper level Jr. classes.

In the Jr. class most kids will struggle to compete with the slightly older and more experienced drivers, if they have less than perfect skills and equipment.  This class is designed with safety as the utmost concern and speed being less emphasized.  The speed will be regulated by track officials.

This class is not about winning, it is about learning.  Parents are urged to teach good sportsmanship and driving techniques rather than the "win at all cost" attitude.  Learning to finish a race, obeying and understanding the flags, getting on and off the track, running in traffic, and passing safely is of the utmost importance.

As in every class there are certain rules that are applied to make a class competitive and safe.  These rules will be strictly enforced by our tech personnel.  Rules may change at anytime to ensure a safe, equal playing field for all racers.  Do not cheat your child out of a good finishing position by being outside the rules.  Do not straddle the fence on the rules.  If you do not know, ask us.  There are no shades of gray.  It will either be right or wrong.  If it is not written in the rules, do not assume it is OK.  There is nothing worse than telling a child they were disqualified because the parent failed to interpret the rules correctly.

The rules are written to be simple as possible and still cover all areas.  rules should not have to be complicated to compete in this class.  This will give the beginner's parent (crew chief) as well as the beginner drivers a chance to learn and grow together, preparing them to become our future racing champions.  This class  is designed  as a exhibition only class and the kids are awarded all the same (participant award) rather than a first, second and third place finish.  This class is generally a non points class and non paying class (money).  Some tracks may decide to charge a point  fee and provide some form of trophy or award at end of season.  Paying money in this class is highly discouraged.

We wish you good luck and a safe racing season.

Tech Official : Boyd Maloney

Patriot Speedway / PROTEST PROCEDURE : and how it works
« on: February 07, 2017, 02:59:54 PM »
Protest are put into place to insure competitive fairness. Protest will be handled by the Tech man and or Race Director. Protest will be handled in a respectful manner. If at any time should the parties involved get unruly the Tech man may disqualify the protest and rule it null and void.
Those involved could lose all winnings and positions earned because of a disturbance in the tech area and procedure or for incidences on or related to the race track. That is left to the discretion of the officials over seeing the Race or protest.
Protest related to class participant's age or eligibility should be done so before a class in question is ran. Not after the fact hoping for a easy disqualification. Parents are urged to have in their possession at all times a minors Birth Certificate to prove date of birth.
Driving infractions and penalties are handled by the track staff in as Flagman and corner workers. All calls here are final......Just like in baseball.  Scoring staff along with the Flagman will be in charge of laps ran, and running order and final finishing positions. Verbal discussions are encouraged if you think we have made a mistake but yelling cursing and gestures will not be tolerated. Adjustments here will be made as necessary to ensure operational fairness and efficiency.
Tech inspectors  may require any competitor to submit to technical inspection at any time.
At completion of heat races and Main events top three are required to stay in the impound area until tech man or scale man releases you. If you are submitting a Protest you must remain with your your kart in the impound area also.

ENGINE PROTEST:
$150 to protest $50 to accept. This is for a complete tear down. And will happen as Described..... All protest must be made before the last kart crosses the scales.  You must be in the money or capable of moving into the money to protest.
No protesting backwards (this is a grudge pull)   We don’t do that here!!!    Once a protest has been made and money accepted, Protest cannot be withdrawn without consent of party being Protested. You may Protest after heat race and before main but must be done at completion of heat race.

A- a protest does not give you the right to see the other persons engine. It only allows the tear down process to begin and determines the legality of the engine to be determined by the tech man.   NOTE:  If you don't trust the tech man then don't protest !

B- Any disruption of the tech and tear down process may result in the tear down being stopped and the racer or crew causing the disturbance disqualified and judgement passed against them.  If this should happen protest money will be distributed by track officials and it will not be refunded.

C - Tech  will be conducted by Tech man and person representing the engine being teched.
No one else can be in the tech room unless authorized by Tech man or race director.
D - Engines are teched as presented to tech as raced...when you come off scales.
E - Engines will be granted a 10 minute cool down period if needed.
F - Tear down person or individual representing engine must be ready with tear down tools to begin tear down  of engine at completion of event.
G - Individual doing the protesting may be asked to submit to same tech as the type of protest being made.
H - In the event protest is made in the heat ....engine will be marked or sealed and allowed to return to his pit for his next race. There are exceptions and that is at the discretion of officials.
I - If engine is found not to be in compliance with the rules.... engine will be deemed Illegal. Person protesting will get his $150 protest money back.

The person accepting the protest will forfeit his acceptance fee of  $50

If the engine is found to be legal Protester  will forfeit his $150 protest fee.....$50 of that is retained for tech and tear down fee

The owner of the legal engine gets his $50 acceptance fee back plus $100 of the protest fee

J - Competitor found Illegal will lose all winnings loss of position and loss of all points for that class for that night.

On point nights all participants will be charged a point fee of $5.00 whether you are racing for points or not. All point money collected during the year will go toward purchase of Awards and Trophies  for all classes and year end Champions. First, second and third will be recognized at the awards banquet.  Every driver racing on a point night receives points even if they race there only once a season. At year end if we end up in a tie .We will then look at the racer with the most 2nd place finishes to be the tie breaker ...In the event it is still a tie we will look at the most 3rd place finishes to determine a winner and so forth.

There will be 12 point races with your best 10 finishes (points) going to your total score for the class championship. If you race all 12 point races you will receive 100 bonus points. Everyone will drop their 2 worst finishes. You may drop a zero (if you did not race or take a green flag in the main event) but you cannot drop a DQ.  In order for a class to be eligible for points and awards that class must maintain at a minimum of 6 entries for 9 of the 12 races. If you are DQ'ed in tech or Black Flagged for Bad Sportsmanship you will receive " NO " points.  If you are Dq'ed for weighing up lite at the scales or Black flagged for a safety violation or mechanical infraction you will receive last place points. In the event we do not have enough entries to meet our minimum by the end of the year this will be a trophy class only. Any other awards will be posted. In the event we provide jackets, jacket color cannot be chosen. He or she will receive only one nylon or leather jacket for multiple championships.

Drivers may substitute or appoint a relief driver two times during a season, and still receive the points for that class. This must be made known at time of sign in the relief drivers name and who he is relief driving for and in what class so that you may get credited your points. If they are running multiple classes that driver may still get points in all the classes the relief driver enters.  Everyone knows that deaths and graduation as well as weddings and sickness can mess up a point season  Patriot Speedway recognizes that and makes allowances twice  a season.
